Downtown Charlottesville, with lots of snow and just a few lights.
If you live anywhere on the eastern coast of the United States right now, you may have experienced a power outage over the past few days. I know that in Charlottesville, Virginia, the severe winter weather conditions have induced at least one! Before this massive snow attack, however, some economically minded towns were turning their lights off voluntarily. Take Merrillville, Indiana. The Midwestern city has had its electricity off on alternate streets since November in order to cut down on costs— decorative holiday lights included! That means that for the rest of us who’ve had power up until now, at least we can be happy that we’ve saved some funds as well over the weekend.
