Sunshine = Mango Margarita: Agua Verde in Seattle

It’s sunny out today!  It’s not warm but it’s really truly sunny.  Days like these make me think there might be hope for us yet.  There is nothing better then Seattle in the spring.  When people from other cities ask me how I can stand the rain I try to refrain from telling that same old worn out Seattleite story “it really doesn’t rain that much here.”  What I do is tell them that no other city is as beautiful as Seattle in the spring and summer.  The cherry blossoms at the University, daffodils and tulips along the trail at Greenlake, walking through the market before the tourists get too thick — they’re the reason we are willing to weather the winter weather, pardon the pun.  However, it’s been an unusually dismal winter.  Maybe its the economy, maybe it’s the fact that it’s the end of April and I still can’t wear open toe shoes or maybe it’s that I couldn’t afford a tropical February vacation this year but it seems to be never ending.  But today it’s sunny and the lilacs are just about to bloom.  So in hopes that optimism can actually make things happen I am headed to Agua Verde for dinner tonight.  This long time local’s favorite might not seem like much from the outside but when you see the horde of people waiting to get in you might think twice about passing it by. Agua Verde uses fresh, often local, ingredients to make real Baja style tacos and burritos AND they have a great deck in the bar with an amazing view of Lake Washington. I could talk for hours about the amazing tacos and fresh made guacamole and three kinds of salsa at the salsa bar.  But the real reason to go is the Mango-Rita.  Fresh mangoes blended with ice to perfection with a hint of lime.  This will be my high five to the sun in hopes that it will stick around for a while.  Cheers!

Oh my god— I crave, crave those fresh fruit drinks and Mexican food as soon as it gets warm outside. Too bad I’m not in Seattle!
